Worst Forum Ever

This ones kinda complicated. In my random search through Wiki's musical stuff on the 27 Club I had a random thought, what if they'd lived on...

Would sobering up and moving on with life take away from what we get from our musical experience? I mean, think about Morrison, he had awesome abilities with lyrics, would that have changed or stayed the same? Courtney in all likelihood would probably have ruined Cobain. Janis needed whiskey to make her voice so whiskey-ish. I think Hendrix would have kept on rocking. (Someone in my speech class in college made a passionate speech on why Hendrix is greater than Paige, like a battle of the Jimmy's.)

If you don't get what I'm sayin' just pick who you liked the best from my Lame Poll and then enter some discussion on the subject, I guess.

Ah, summer, idle thoughts that I cannot seem to connect as well.

But I did feel like it was time for another lame poll.

I voted Jimi; the dude was scary good already. Who knows where another 30+ years of playing would have taken him...

My reasoning (flawed as it may be):

I love Jimi Hendrix, but he would have ran out of ideas and crawled up his own ass by 1982. He would have been a mentor of sorts to Prince though.

Jim Morrison was well on his way to becoming a bloated and pretentious joke, but he died before it came to fruition. Everybody nowadays prefers the "Light My Fire/Lizard King" Morrison over the "L.A. Woman/Beardy Alcoholic" Morrison.

If the shotgun hadn't killed Kurt Cobain, it would have been the needle. Had he survived his addiction and gotten sober, the impact would have lessened significantly and Eddie Vedder would be more influencial.

After spending the second half of the 1970's and all of the 1980's in semi-retirement, Janis Joplin would have made a glorious comeback in 1994. Her headling all Lilith Fair tours would top Lollapalloza in dollars and cultural impact.

The winner: Janis Joplin!

My reasoning:

Jim Morrison: Already on the way out by the time he died.

Kurt Cobain: Probably would have had a nervous breakdown and become a recluse.

Janis Joplin: Blows out her voice from too much screaming and alcohol.

And that leaves Hendrix.

Had to go with Hendrix-- it might've been more jazz than rock, but great stuff just the same.
