Did the same thing at the Delphi forum. I'm an idiot.
-Ted NOW: Venture Bros., Eureka
RETURNING (in order of importance): Veronica Mars, The Office, House, 24, Lost, Prison Break, My Name is Earl
NEW: Studio 60, The Nine, Six Degrees
MAYBE: Smith, The Unit
DOWN THE LINE: Traveler
WANT TO WATCH, WON'T HAVE ACCESS: The Wire, Rome
I try to limit myself to six TV shows a season, and for the fall it looks like I will have a guaranteed set of nine (if one counts the Earl/Office block as the equivalent of the other hour-long shows). Something on this list, therefore, is going to have to suck hard so that I can drop it, or I'm going to need to get a new yardstick for the amount of TV I can comfortably watch a week.
NOW: Eureka, Monk, Psych, Rock Star: Supernova, Nightmares & Dreamscapes, Garth Merenghi's Darkplace
RETURNING: Amazing Race (goodbye, Simpsons), Battlestar Galactica, My Name is Earl, The Office, Survivor, Boston Legal, Family Guy
NEW: Knights of Prosperity, 30 Rock
MAYBE (1 or 2 episode try-out): Heroes, Studio 60
DOWN THE LINE: American Idol (yeah, I know), Duets (yeah, I really know), Doctor Who (I feel confident in Series 2 being picked up)
THREE THUMBS (i.e., sometimes): Colbert Report, Dog Whisperer, Deal or No Deal, Monday/Sunday Night Football, American Dad
Looks like a buttload.

NOW: Entourage, Project Runway, Daily Show, Colbert Report, Big Brother, Rescue Me, 30 Days, Rock Star: Supernova, Hell's Kitchen, Pardon the Interruption
RETURNING: The Wire, Veronica Mars, Lost, Everybody Hates Chris Battlestar Galactica, My Name is Earl, The Office, How I Met Your Mother, House, Prison Break, Survivor, The Amazing Race
NEW: Studio 60, Heroes, The Nine
MAYBE: Friday Night Lights, 30 Rock, Smith, Shark
DOWN THE LINE: 24, Extras, Sopranos, Scrubs, American Idol, The Shield, Doctor Who

NEW: The Class, Heroes, Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip, Standoff, Friday Night Lights, Day Break?, The Nine, Jericho, Ugly Betty, Men In Trees.
As each season makes their way onto DVD:

This was my initial line-up:
NOW: Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Big Brother, Entourage, Hell's Kitchen, Project Runway, Real World Key West, Real World/Road Rules: Fresh Meat, Rescue Me
RETURNING: Amazing Race, Battlestar Galactica, Boston Legal, Lost, My Name is Earl, The Office, Rome, Veronica Mars, The Wire
NEW: Studio 60, Ugly Betty
MAYBE (RETURNING): Gilmore Girls, Prison Break, Survivor
MAYBE (NEW): 30 Rock, Heroes, Kidnapped
Then I looked at the grid and realized that on Mondays and Tuesdays I'd be watching shows from 8-11pm. Wednesdays are 8:30-11pm. Thursdays, using the DVR, is 8-10pm. Fridays I get a break where it's 8-9 and then 10-11. Ditto for Sundays.
Based on all of this I think most of those Maybes will become Nos.

Not a hater, just didn't get on the boat when it sailed and now I feel like I would be missing out on a whole bunch of backstory. Is it the kind of show that I could just jump in and enjoy?
(Also, wife tried it and then deleted it from TiVo, but that excuse is made quietly.)
I think I forgot the comedies like Reno 911 and Sunny in Philly on my list.

-Ted yet netflix it and watch the first 6 if you hate it give up.
I think you will be surprised.
Technically you can start at the beginning of each season but you miss out on some fun stuff that way.

Holy cow. I'm just getting around to looking at this and this fall is the biggest scheduling trainwreck I've seen in years (based solely on things I want to watch). Jeez. Now where did I put that graphing calculator?
