It looked like Pam Grier was put into a machine that would physically morph her into Amanda Waller, but it broke down halfway thru the process.

Other than that I had a great time with these episodes - made me reconsider my bias against the non-event episodes.

If they drop Darkseid into it somehow, I just pray he doesn't look like a typical CW pretty boy, like they seem to dreg up.

They really should just paint Michael Ironside grey and let him have at it.

True, but they got Doomsday right. Except for when he was in his WB prettyboy form, that is.

He could work especially if they make him up. Maybe have him play Bruno Manheim, who's actually like Darkseid's avatar or something rather than his minion.

Yup. I went from little inner SQUEEs about who was in it to 'oh dear lord' at the awful, awful dialogue. "ICE CREAM!"

Not a massive incentive to start watching regularly, IOW, though I've no doubt I'll tune in for other DCU appearances, unless they screw up Darkseid, in which case I will have to give those responsible THE DEATH THAT IS LIFE.

The nerd blinkers are so very strong with this show. I see better costume design at ComicCon. Then you start noticing all the shortcuts because they didn't have a good enough budget for effects. And then you remember that the vast majority of the cast, especially Tom Welling, are bad actors. There was also a massive plot hole: How come the world didn't know about the JSA? Even more insulting, that could have been easily explained by saying Fate cast a spell to keep them secret.  It's a better show than it used to be, but that's not saying a lot.

And I'm still pissed that they killed off, arguably the easiest and coolest character to do, Sandman.

"How come the world didn't know about the JSA?"

That was addressed, actually - the JSA made a point to not be seen and known about, and I think they were implying that government was covering it up, as well.

Interesting that this version Waller seems to be of a mind that the secrecy will end up counter-productive...

Heroes, on occasion, looks like it's trying. Even I think Company Man is very good.

i used to change the channel to heroes during commercials and now i don't even bother with that.  it had so much potential but it is best left forgotten.

I love how that episode is pretty much universally acclaimed and yet almost none of the episodes after that are like it.  It's as if Kring read the praise for that episode and then said to the writers, "OK, take this episode... and do everything the EXACT OPPOSITE."

It says something that even I liked Company Man, when I'm one of the few that thought Heroes was bad from the start.

Really? I don't know anyone who watches it who likes it. How old is Superman now, anyway?

I've never met a single person who actually LIKES Smallville. But tons of us seem to keep watching it out of some sort of nerd obligation.

I find myself wondering if it's actually reasonably popular with the non-nerd crowd.

My girlfriend likes it. And frankly she's the only person I know.

Although ever since coming out of the Smallville closet a couple episodes ago on the LEOG podcast, she gets the occasional email of "Oh thank God, someone else likes it too!"

One of my college roommates loved Smallville and Star Trek:TNG. The guy was  math nerd, but otherwise wasn't particularly into other geeky things. IIRC, he was the only college roommate I had who never borrowed any of comics. Well, him and the one who was waaaaay to into Dave Matthews band.

>> James likes the show, I believe.

Truth? I've seen like 5 eps this season, and 2 of them were the JSA two parter. It doesn't hold my interest much anymore. Probably the distinct lack of Lex.
