People are absolutely freaking out on Sepinwall's blog. They can't get over the fact that Chuck and Sarah are not together RIGHT AT THIS MOMENT, and apparently having them be interested in other people is killing the show.

I really hate people.
They can't just wait and see where this goes before shitting all over it?
Maybe they're upset that it's Kristin Kreuk, of all actresses. (To be fair, she's been pretty good on the show, much better than you would think if you had only seen her on "Smallville" and Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun Li.)
Its nuts. You have people saying that they feel like they wasted their time watching the first 2 seasons. And one person calling for a boycott of the show until they "fix it".
Normally Sepinwall doesn't get that many of the crazies - but they were out like there were 4 full moons last night.
There's one(anonymous, of course) that says if they organize a campaign(to voice their displeasure) for everyone to DVR it or watch it on HULU so viewership gets under a million, the network will tell the show to do what the viewers want, and in the meantime, they still get to watch Chuck. Alan comes in to say that would kill the show.
I actually find the Chuck-Sarah stuff grating at this point and wouldn't mind if they gave it up permanently.
If they're reallly serious, they should organize a boycott of Subway.
Meanwhile I prefer this than the "will they/won't they" dynamic. If they hook up, the show's over. If they don't hook up, the tension gets tedious. They need a break from each other, and we need a break from them. I'm more than happy to have Superman and Lana in the mix.
>> Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun Li. <<
Fuck. Damn you, Kim, I had managed to block this out of my memory until now...
They didn't notice that the entire C/S relationship this season was forced and stale? I sort of take the point about 'its about them acting OOC' (although it isn't) but this show has benefitted from shifts in focus and format before and I don't doubt it will do so again.
Besides, Kristin Kreuk is totally going to turn out to be evil, cf having been in THE LEGEND OF CHUN LI. And SMALLVILLE, for that matter.
Thought last night's episode was terrific, with some nice character bits and a really strong performance by Levi. And reading reactions around the 'net, I can see I'm definitely a Sepinwall kind of guy, not a Ken Tucker (from EW.com) guy.
I'm sure everyone's going crazy over the relationship tango in the ep.
Much more interesting were the bits about Casey's past and Chuck's accidental slipping into Rafe a couple of times. Oh, and the two mob guys were hilarious.
Also: Given that the show is canonically set in the same universe as Die Hard, I kept expecting some kind of reference to the deaths of Rafe Gruber's brothers Hans and Simon.
Am I the only one starting to be bothered by all the comedy torture this season? At least on 24 it's handled somewhat seriously and in a serious context. This has become an action-comedy where the first resort in an interrogation is an acetylene torch.
Last season, Reginald VelJohnson guest starred as his Die Hard character.
It's totally in character for Casey -- people forget that Casey started out as a bad guy, just waiting on orders to kill Chuck at a moment's notice.
Yeah, Casey is more or less the Chuck-Verse's Jack Bauer, just on a really weird extended assignment.
What I liked last night is that he couldn't flash and even looking at Sarah didn't work. I'm also curious if Sarah is suspicious of Shaw and playing him.
I have to admit I like the way they keep upsetting the paradigm in the last few episodes. I am sad that the revelation of the truth to Morgan probably means that Awesome and Ellie are on the way out. On the other hand: ELLIE IN A BIKINI.
I really hope they aren't writing out Awesome and Ellie, but it does seem like they're headed that way.
Really fun episode otherwise, though. It was nice to see Chuck finally tell Morgan and we even got a Jeffster performance.
<-On the other hand: ELLIE IN A BIKINI.->
Yeah, that was the ep highlight for me.
Since the show is on such a tight budget, I'd guess this isn't the end of Awesome and Ellie, but just another way to keep them out of a handful of episodes.
One hopes that with the demise of Leno at 10 pm, NBC will be more committed to thoroughly funding existing programs. Of course I have no idea what Chuck is doing in the ratings. Ted?
It hasn't been renewed yet, TVBytheNumbers has it on their bubble-watch.
Just caught up on this week's and last week's, and it's not just you. I generally really like this show, but the torture references sicken me.
in fairness, I don't think there was anything comic about the torture in the most recent episode, though I don't know that the writers are bright enough to have intended it as a deliberate inversion or "see how it feels when it happens to you" in the previous ep. In previous seasons, its mostly played not-for-laughs - eg when evil spy woman is cutting on the James Bond dude.
I totally agree. The last episode presented the idea of torture as fairly horrific and dangerous, although that may just be a case of OMG NOT MORGAN rather than OMG NOT TORTURE in tone.
On the other hand, I think Andrew's right. Given the current environment it's distressing how often Chuck is willing to wink-wink nudge-nudge the comedy value of torture. At least in 24 it seems icky.
