Based on recent comments on his blog (www.peterdavid.net), it seems Peter David doesn't hold any personal opposition to the existence of Wa2chmen. He wasn't exactly advertising for the job, and specifically says he wouldn't want it, but he's the highest-profile writer I've seen to essentially shrug at the controversy.
(By the way, some of those commenters? DAMN, there is some sucking-up going on there.)
