No, I don't.
so, apparently most of the contradictions in FC are attributed to time distortions which i'm sure will at some point be attributed to superboy prime punching the walls of time.
QUESTION: At the end of Final Crisis, there is a panel with Arthur Curry, but we've also heard that Arthur Curry will be in Blackest Night. Are they the same Arthur Curry, and if so, how?
DD - They are not the same ones. One thing that Grant Morrison wanted to do was, with a big event story featuring the entire universe, some characters would be conspicuous by their absence. So the Arthur Curry used in Final Crisis is simply an alternate universe Arthur Curry who came over to help out. But the bigger story to tell is in Blackest Night. The panel in Final Crisis was simply an Easter Egg put in for the fans, but the bigger story is yet to come.
...
You know, sometimes is really hard to take these people seriously at all.
I've said this before, probably, but reading DiDio brings to mind that Big Train sketch where George Martin is taken hostage by the Iranians and fails to notice.
The funny thing is that, if Morrison was so dead set on using Aquaman, he could have simply used Superman Beyond to set up the cameo in the finale via having alternate universe Aquaman showing up to help Superman out over there. Or pressured Geoff into removing Aquaman from "The Blackest Night"/force Geoff to have to bring Barry back in the pages of Flash: Rebirth instead of FC, and make Aquaman's return the cornerstone of Final Crisis instead of Barry's return.
But...everyone knew Barry was dead. It's been a requirement for all DC comics to mention the fact every few issues since Crisis. I didn't know Aquaman was dead. Did anyone else know?
Last time I saw Aquaman he had an octopuss head, and some new kid who was coincidentally also named Arthur Curry and had gils was calling himself Aquaman.
Shortly after that, Aquasquid was killed, and Gillboy discovered he was only alive because he had a piece of Aquaman's soul.
You're making this up, aren't you? Like, this is some kind of competition between you an Manzi to come up with the most shit idea, right? Right?
I liked that they resolved Sub Diego the best unmentioned geographical change in the DCU.
Nothing beats zombie Aquaman. Or was it Aquazombie? (For best idea, not worst.)
I'd do a better job than that...
Nopes. Kurt's Aquaman series, post Infinite Crisis. A new Aquaman showed up, and was being mentored by a squid-headed guy who was strongly intimated to be the real Aquaman. Real Aquaman's transformation into Squid guy was eventually chronicled in the WWIII mini-series. at the end of 52.
It was actually a good read, with beautiful Shawn McManus art. I only stopped reading it 4 or 5 issues in because I was culling a lot of stuff at the time...
Hmm...breathes water, telepathic...yeah, sounds like Cthulhu.
I am to Zombie Aquaman as Gillen is to Dazzler.
MY TIME WILL COME
Sooner rather than later, by the sounds of things (ie BLACKEST NIGHT)
I have no idea what that means.
Speculation is that Aquaman will be back because of The Darkest Night.
Ah. But will he be a zombie?
(I thought "Blackest Night" was a Green Lantern reference?)
They're introducing the Black Lanterns, who are all people who've died.
Because if there's a theme that hasn't been thoroughly explored in the DC Universe recently, it's the horrific death and mourning of characters.
More importantly, leave it to DC to hop on the zombie wave years after it was big.
To be fair, this is the dead coming back to life as undead Green Lanterns, which is kinda cool, and not yet another sequence of:
1 - A or B level Character dies!
2 - Goddamn boring wake scene.
3 - Comes back alive.
4 - Choose another A or B level character. Lather, rinse, repeat.
5 - ????
6 - Profit.

They're introducing the Black Lanterns, who are all people who've died.
And now I've got the Jim Carrol Band song in my head...
You too, huh? That would make a great comic, zombie versions of all the dead people from the lyrics to that song.
I hope zombie versions of all the character Johns has dismemebered come back as part of the Black Lantern Corps then are killed again just to drive you crazy. :)
