My wife lost her wallet in the Seattle airport today, with $55 cash and two credit cards in it. She had her driver's license out because she'd needed it to check her bag, then also for security, but somewhere in the middle she set the wallet down and didn't remember to pick it up. When she noticed it gone, she started to freak out, retracing her steps and asking about at the American counter where we'd just been. No such luck. As we snake around the security line, I'm on the phone to our bank to report her debit card lost, and somebody pages her for something over the intercom. All she could notice was her name -- it was loud in there and the intercom speaker was shit. We went back out to the ticketing counter and they hadn't made the page, but a woman working there (despite already being busy) helped us to track down the person who had, somebody at security who was paging my wife to call 911. Someone had found the wallet and brought it in, untouched, and security paged her after not being able to find any phone number inside.
Then we got inside to the gate and were asked to volunteer to be bumped to a later flight. We did so, then wound up not needing to be bumped, and got free cocktails on the plane for our trouble. Thanks, American!
