A friend of my wife used to go out with a guy who, instead of wiping his arse*, would have a shower after he had a shit. I guess he never took a shit outside the home, or waived his shower if he did.

*and refused to buy toilet paper for when she stayed at his flat even though she'd been going out with him for 2 years.

Why not just buy a bidet or use flushable wipes like Kevin Smith and his lovely wife?

I can barely function without a shower in the morning, but I often have a bath at night as well.

The bath is more palliative than maintenance-based, I'm guessing? Scented candles, soft music, perhaps a glass of champagne?

Shower: At the start of the day or before going out

Bath: At the end of the day, before settling down for dinner and telly

Well, a book, at any rate.  Which is why I may never become an e-book person - too many books dropped in the tub.  Plus, generally by the end of the day my feet are frozen (the a/c vent here at work blows straight across them) and it seems the only way I can warm them up.

Shower to wake and warm up in the morning, at night to wash off the grime of the day.

I actually used to shower every other day, barring sweating or other stink-making activities - it seems to be better for my skin.  But now I work in an office that serves pharmaceutical companies, and as a smoker I am NOT going in to work for health care people smelling of yesterday's cigarettes.

Nope. I'm not really partial to any of those things. Champagne occasionally, maybe.

At a push it'll be some sainsburys bubble bath and a can of lager. Christ, I want to relax in it not spend all night building the bastard thing.

The Men's Health article said it IS better for your skin to skip a shower once a week or more if you can...also apparently better for your hair to shampoo every other day although I couldn't stand that.

I'd feel like my skin was crawling if I skipped, but my pores ooze seal oil.

I'm back in the habit of going to the gym most days after work, so it's usually both for me.  But on days when i don't work out it's morning-only.

Same boat here. If I'm doing my running in the morning I wait until afterwards to take a shower, but otherwise it'll be the extra shower post-workout. I can definitely tell the difference on my skin if I've been showering more than once a day, though; usually need to start using lotion to keep it from getting dry and itchy.

Yeah, that's my problem with more than 1 shower a day too.  If I could ever get the proper motivation to get my arse up and work out in the morning before work, I would much prefer that...

The worst was when I ended up going to the pool at lunch and then a cycling class in the evening. After the third shower I was pretty sure I would be able to scrape my skin off afterwards had I not applied some lotion.

Shower at end of day, because for much of the year it's too cold to shower in the morning.

But when it's warmer,  I'll shower in the morning.

I shower every other, or even every third day if I haven't actually done anything to get dirty or sweaty. It's way better on my hair, once it became a habit, and my skin seems happier as well. Definitely at night, though. Otherwise my hair is sopping wet all day.

It's got the added benefit of me not feeling guilty for taking a long shower, too. Even at 20 minutes, it's still less overall water than a daily shower.

Do you not have hot water? Because being cold is why I shower in the morning.

I would live in a shower if I didn't turn all wrinkly.

Showering is extremely pleasurable to me even when I'm not touching my naughty bits. Up until two months ago I had an excellent shower with three adjustable heads. Now that I'm on my own I have a servicable one that has two speeds: dribbly and water cannon. So my 15 minute pleasure soaks are now down to military-style 4 minute jobbies.

I also shave my head in the shower so that usually adds to the ritual.

Yes, but we usually turn the heat off at night, so when I leave the shower, it's COLD.  Which rather spoils the effect.

I can't skip showers. The last time i skipped a shower because it was broken, several co-workers accused me of having been out on the booze and didn't believe me when i tried to explain. I can't wake up without a shower and hate the feel of my (normally very fluffy) hair if I haven't.

I do every other day because taking a shower takes some acrobatics that I really don't feel like doing everyday.

Always night. Mornings are such a mad scramble of kids/dogs/lunches/kibble/diapers/breakfast/poo/bus that a shower would never make its way high enough on the priority list. And I like going to bed clean.

I shower in the morning every day that I have to be on campus or otherwise meet with people; otherwise it's every other day unless I've gotten dirty. I only shower at night if I've worked out or gotten especially dirty, and if it's a workout and I have nothing else that day I'll usually waive the every other rule and delay until after I'm done sweating. Something about taking a shower in the morning, then playing an afternoon soccer game and showering again seems really wasteful to me.

I shower in the morning, but never take baths.  This is not because I hate baths, but because my bathtub has an anti-overflow drain that prevents the water from getting any higher than halfway up my sitting thigh.

In my last apartment, I had a cast iron clawfoot tub big enough to double as a swimming pool.  I read entire novels in that thing.

Much as I'd love to sleep as late as possible and roll out of bed, into new clothes, and off to work, I need to shower at the start of the day. In fact, the shower basically IS the start of the day. Also, I am manly, verile, and hairy, and therefore can stank it up pretty good if it's been 24 hours since my last shower.

Preferably at night. When I go to sleep without taking a shower at night I feel like I am taking all the filth I accumulated during the day to the bed to marinate in shit for a few hours.
