Ted, total apologies on this. The move just took over.
Good news is that I'll be working just a couple of blocks away from Monster Sushi so hopefully I'll be able to make the next lunchtime meetup.

Our last meeting of the Midtown Lunch Club was in June. Shall we reconvene in the near future?
I'm game.
At Vasu's drinks we talked about doing something non-sushi so Brendan could come.
I'm in.
I'll be jammed up the next couple of weeks on account of I have MY LAST ROUND OF TREATMENT W00T W00T
In that case, we'll push it to later in August so that we can include you.
Give me until about the 30th/first week in Sept and I may even be able to have sushi.
Or we could do one now and one in a few weeks when B's feeling better.
That's certainly an option. Any suggestions for venue?
My supervisor is away on vacation, which means that I can take a longer than usual lunch, which means it's the perfect week for another session of the Midtown Lunch Club. I'm in the mood for burgers. How does that sound for everybody? There are some options there (goodburger, Five Guys, HB Burger, even Shake Shack). Anyone interested?
I'm down. Shake Shack is probably too long a line even with extra time available, but I'm very curious to try Five Guys.
The Five Guys by my office (which I assume is the one y'all are considering) has an almost Shake Shacke-esque line most days. It is NOT worth the wait. However, the burgers and fries are pretty damn good if you can just waltz in and order.
That's the trouble with a lot of these places - I love burgers, especially good ones, I'm not waiting in the sort of lines that form at some of these places for one. There's too many other options to justify it.
There are two to consider, the first at 36 West 48 St. and the second at 690 3rd Ave. There's also one on 43 West 55 St., but that might be a bit far for everybody.
Mine's the 55th Street one. If it is any indication, the other two midtown locations will be mobbed. I strongly recommend against this option not in the least because if I'm going to spend over an hour grabbing lunch I'd like to be doing so sitting the fuck down. (Although that's just me.)
Might I counter-suggest Virgils if the craving is for tasty charred-meat products.
BBQ is a bit heavy for lunch, unless none of us expects to be productive that afternoon.
The problem is that most of the other midtown burger options to consider are going to be packed for lunch:
Burger Joint at Le Parker Meridien Hotel (118 W 56th St): it'll be crowded because it's a tiny restaurant in the hotel, but highly recommended
Beacon (56th btw. 5+6th Ave): probably packed, a bit pricey
Burger Heaven (49th btw. Mad+5th) doable if we get there early enough to get a table
Good Burger: could be our best bet, but I haven't been there during lunch hours
Prime Burger (51st btw. Mad+5th): cool atmosphere, conflicting reports about the burger
>>Burger Joint at Le Parker Meridien Hotel (118 W 56th St): it'll be crowded because it's a tiny restaurant in the hotel, but highly recommended<<
As with 5 Guys, this is only worth it if you can avoid the line. Wh ich means eating at either 11:45 am or 3 pm.
>>Beacon (56th btw. 5+6th Ave): probably packed, a bit pricey<<
Out of this fucking world, you can always get a reservation if you want to sit, and yes it is pricey. (Also a client!)
>>Burger Heaven (49th btw. Mad+5th) doable if we get there early enough to get a table<<
Glorified diner.
>>Good Burger: could be our best bet, but I haven't been there during lunch hours<<
Never tried it but I hear good things.
>>Prime Burger (51st btw. Mad+5th): cool atmosphere, conflicting reports about the burger<<
Considering its reknown, this place is remarkably easy to get seated at even in prime time. I enjoy the burger but this is really a sit, get your grub, and go kinda place. No finesse to it at all.
The other option we haven't considered is getting food from a burger truck and going to any of the private/public spaces that dot midtown.
I'm a few weeks from feeling comfortable with truck food myself but go crazy!
I'm not really down for truck food.
My work neighborhood has two New York Burger Co. locations - one on 23rd and Park, I think, and one on 21st and 6th. Don't know if that's too out of the way for folks, though.
Go to 21st and 6th and I might consider joining in.
That's the one I prefer anyway, so that would work for me, at least.
And I wouldn't mind something that's almost at the midpoint between where Ted and Kira work and where I work.
I definitely want to join up (esp. if it's at the latter end of the week) but I wouldn't be able to make it down to the 20s (darn that whole being on a 6 month job probation thing and working in Rockefeller Center area).
But I'll keep watch on the details as this shapes up and hopefully will be able to join you.
