So what's the latest awesome innovation for the 8 Card Stud tournament?

It almost looks like a basic 8 man tourney so i assume TNA has something in mind to screw it up.

Nope, just a standard tourney to determine the #1 contender at Lockdown. They've done qualifying matches for a few weeks and had an OK tag match setting up the Anderson/Angle match on last night's Impact.

The card theme I assume is just a vague thematic tie-in to the Odds that they are all against.

I don't watch the show myself, but by all accounts, Impact has gotten a lot more comprehensible since Hogan & Bischoff took over.

First person to hit the most powerful move in the world, the FINGERPOKE OF DOOM, wins and advances.

If either Mr. Anderson or Mr. Angle tries the Fingerpoke, they might break something.

Until later

Maybe D'Lo sold his old chest protector to one of them?

was this on last Sunday? I'm guessing by the silence here it was dire.

I'm actually guessing the silence means nobody watched it. I never got around to commenting on the results, but basically, AJ retained over Joe, and D'Angelo Dinero beat Mr. Anderson in the tourney finals and will face AJ at Lockdown. Which is actually kind of awesome. I wasn't expecting Dinero to be put over Matt Morgan, although when AJ won, I figured they'd go with face Dinero instead of heel Anderson at that point.

Oh, and also, Nasty Boys stunk up the joint, but that surprises nobody.

Didn't see it, but from what I hear it was a pretty decent show.

Full results:

* Pope D'Angelo Dinero def. Desmond Wolfe via clean pin to advance.

* Matt Morgan def. Hernandez to advance. Hernandez sold hurting his shoulder on a dive outside and Morgan helped him back in, then threw him shoulder-first into the buckle and pinned him with the tights.

* Mr. Anderson def. Kurt Angle via pin to advance. Kurt gigged after Anderson hit him with a metal necklace.

* Abyss def. Mick Foley via pin in a no-DQ match to advance. Abyss hit the black hole slam in a bunch of tacks. Before the match, Bischoff had told Foley he had to use a barbed-wire bat on Abyss or else Abyss would have to unmask on Impact, but they never used the bat.

* The Nasty Boys def. Team 3D via pin. 3D hit their finisher on Sags, but Knobs hit Bubba with a gimmick while the ref was distracted by Jimmy Hart, who's apparently allied with the Nasty Boys.

* Pope def. Matt Morgan via clean pin to advance to the finals.

* Mr. Anderson def. Abyss via pin to advance to the finals. He twisted Abyss' mask so that Abyss couldn't see and hit his finisher.

* AJ Styles def. Samoa Joe via pin to retain the TNA Championship. Bischoff was the referee and he called the match straight. Joe had the match won off of a muscle buster, but Flair pulled Bischoff out of the ring. Bischoff KO'd Flair outside the ring while Joe got a visual pin, then Joe hauled Bischoff back in. They got into an argument, which gave AJ enough time to hit a pele kick and a Styles clash for the win. Bischoff didn't want to count, but did anyway.

* Pope def. Mr. Anderson via clean pin to become #1 contender to AJ's title. Mr. Anderson laid out Pope with a clothesline, called down a mic, and announced that he was about to hit his finisher to win the match. He hit it, but Pope kicked out anyway. Anderson hit the fireman's carry roll but missed a senton and a charge, then Pope hit his finisher to win.

/woah, well if it's good enough to beat the Hart Foundation, why not use it again here.

Hope Beer Money destroys them
