My other half finally got a proper comics job!!!

(I tease because I love, but he has mostly been writing for indie labels and book publishers up to now and never any characters anyone has heard of - and even my MUM has heard of Wolverine!)

They spelled OH's name wrong but hell, he's writing WOLVERINE! WOLVERINE! Oh Logan, I have an unholy love for you and will have to restrain myself from poking my nose into the scripts :)

Anime News Network: Del Rey and Marvel Announcement Thank you for thinking of us Dallas, we love you! ;-) Now if only the dollar exchange rate would improve, maybe I can has a new kitchen nao!

I told you, these creative types are just bloody unemployed layabouts with fancy job titles! Not even any good as house-husbands either!
He was a graphic design editor for a magazine when I agreed to move in with him - no-one mentioned the words "freelance" and "writer". It was all a scam! :-)
And to think I could have married the guy who invented THIS!

Congratulations, that's great news! Indie titles can be pretty good but it is nice to be working for a well recognised name; gives you a sense of pride :D

New kitchen for Christmas? :P

I doubt it'll be that quick if the book's not out till 2009 - not notoriously high or quick paying, isn't the comics world!

I think the money from EA Games will be in first. Mebbe that holds the hope of a new kitchen for ... Easter, maybe?

I have fond dreams of beech cabinets, granite work surfaces and monochromatic tiles. *sigh*.

Not having a big ass hole in the wall stuffed with a black binbag will also be a plus.

Ooh! HOORAH! Massive congratulations to him on that!

I shall pull out some of my old x-men comics later and read them to celebrate this. *nod*

Congrats! Even I know who Wolverine is (and knew before the recent movies), and I'm not a comics gal.

And I can empathize on the kitchen. The only thing ours has going for it right now is that it is large, which means when we can finally afford to renovate it, it will be nice. Until then, it's a large pile of pink plastic tile and (very little) ancient metal cabinets.

Ours is sadly tiny and I don't think even Wolverine will run to building an extension on back (one day though i will have my downstairs loo and laundry room).

But I can deal with tiny if it is also NICE.

Heh! Hopefully it'll do okay - Del Rey are a good company. It'll be nice for OH to get a bit of mainstream recognition for a change - he deserves it after 5 years of slog :)

Excellent news! I'm an old time comic geek who hasn't read Wolverine in years, but maybe I'll have to give him a go again.

Well it'll be manga and this time Marvel are working WITH Del Rey, not trying to put out their own manga (and riding the PHAILboat as they do so).

So hopefully provided the OH can pull it off it should be decent.

He's avoided superheros for the most part as they're really not his strength (we leave that to Matt Fraction hahaha) - but this is taking a slightly different approach so I think that was enough to tempt him to say yes :)

Hoi, I thought previous owners had to fix up their houses and apartments before they left them?

That's how it is here, at least. We were never allowed to leave an apartment until it was spotless. I can't imagine the sort of trouble we'd have gotten into leaving a hole in the wall and all that.

If you rent, yeah. We bought. It's what's politely termed a "fixer upper" but work only gets done when we have money and time :)

But hey - we got a nice new bathroom at the end of last year so that's another room off the list (except for getting the floor laid).

Ohhh, I see. Well, there's nothing like a good project to give one that smug feeling when it's done. And you do always have things to look forward to, I suppose.

I can't imagine Logan would be much good at actual DIY, but it'd be a nice view while he tried ;)

Thank you - hmmm, wonder if we can score the upcoming PW manga from Del Rey in a comp. box?

Heh. We did get some free games from EA so anything is possible :)
