Who's up for some online Blood Bowl using the FUMBBL client?
Once I understand how to play the game: YES!
Now I'm back up and running, I'm in.
I'm bored out my nut, so yeah, why not?
Could do. if someone explains how to make a balanced team that doesn't just squish in fear when Jamie runs on to teh pitch. Also, how to play properly
Oh, and here's me for any buddy-list-adding shenanigans:
PS probably best to ignore my statistics.
I'm in.
Tactics:
1. If playing Nick, foul the gutter runners.
2. If playing Linds, get annoyed by his bloody "rolling cage".
3. If playing Jamie, RUN!
I recommend playing a tough team like orcs or dwarves first. They're slow, but with Armour Value of 9, they're hard to take off the pitch. Necromantic teams are also pretty good, with lots of lovely regeneration.
Then, read this guide. It should give you a decent handle on the basics.
Heh, I've just started a wood elf team for fresh matches, so no caging for me!
Fuck, this is more complicated than I imagined!
It's a bit more intuitive than it sounds, but yeah, there's a fair amount of complexity. Just remembering what half the skills do is a bit of a chore...!
Also, may I suggest a dedicated IRC chatroom?
irc.rizon.net

I'm in there now, if anyone else cares to join...
Well, I've created my Khornate team, The Bloodcurdlers, and I think I know most of the rules - the "your turn has ended because you're lame" thing is... interesting :)
Go with Orcs, they're good all-rounders (if not overly quick) and generally bloody hard to kill (unless you have a terrible run of luck).
Necros are also good but their best players (werewolves) are not uncoincidentally also (a) the most obvious targets in the entire game and (b) the only non-regenerating Necro players. I've seen a hell of a lot of games where some poor bastard has to try to protect his star werewolf from a legion of Dirty Player foulers and Piling On monsters.
That said, if you can lose decent players without epic butthurt, Necros are a great way to go — those wolves skill up QUICKLY.
Heh, I've seen woodie cages before, including several against other WE teams who have cheerfully sprinted between players in order to deliver super-heroic -2 blocks to the ball carrier :)
You can always spectate a couple of games to get a feel for how it all works - click the 'games' link on the menu bar at fumbbl.com, and then 'spectate' next to the game name. Try to find some with races you intend to play, and look at a range of team strengths, not just the uber l33t teams - it'll be a long time, if ever, before your team has the 20 million skills they do, and you're better off learning how to win without relying on 'bought' skills.
Also, watch a couple games with smashy teams and a couple games with dodgers / runners - you'll pick up the time-worn tactics for cage-breaking and defensive positioning respectively.
I spent last night trying to get the client to work to no avail. I think my Java's fucked.
1-1 against Lindsay, desperately trying to remember how to play. I am up for more! Available this evening if anyone's about.
Have got it loaded on my work laptop, so free to play most of the day... ish.
Check Java.com for the latest client update, and make sure your firewall's allowing it to work? I dunno, I'm not a techie :(
Harumph. I can't get IRC to work at the mo', so can't get any learning games in :(
You can learn a surprising amount from spectating...!
Scriveners are now ready to play in Unranked. Dunno when I'll be available though - going to look at flats tonight & tomorrow.
Ghouls are also non-regenerating.
I built up a Necro team, the London Necrarchs (ranked, so I can get some actual games in), and didn't realise to begin with what position wolves were meant for.
cool, I may have a look tomorow then - If I'm online tonight I'll be trick or treating - I was clocking nearly 1m xp an hour last night
